Our Mission Statement
S.H.I.P. is committed to improving the quality of life of underprivileged populations throughout the world by providing medical care and education without discrimination. Our principles are based on medical ethics and are impartial to race, color, sex, religion or political beliefs. Our activities will encourage current and future healthcare providers to promote humanitarianism by their participation in our charitable purpose and projects.
Each year, LSU Health Shreveport Medical Students in their 3rd and 4th years fulfill this mission by taking 2- and 4-week trips to Bungoma, Kenya, to serve the poor through mobile medical clinics. The students provide healthcare to the community with the help of LSUHSC-Shreveport physicians & residents, as well as medical officers & translators from Bungoma.

Each year, we are hosted by Bishop Reuben and Mama Betty at the ICODEI compound in Kabula, Kenya.
